National Accreditation Agencies and University Associations met in Quito, Ecuador to define the policies of the Andean Joint Accreditation System on 2 and 3 May 2013
The aim of the focus group, organised as a subregional Andean initiative within the framework of the Alfa Puentes project, was to evaluate the pilot project that took place between September 2012 and February 2013 on joint programme evlaution of Andean universities. The pilot project was supported by the quality assurance agencies and partners of the region. Six university visits and evaluations of programmes in agronomy and medicine were conducted by joint teams of peer evaluators. The focus group was an occasion to discuss and evaluate the methodology and assess the prospects of scaling up the pilot to a wider regional accreditation mechanism.
Participants included representatives from national quality assurance agencies and the university associations of Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia and Ecuador, as well as European experts.
The event was hosted by CEAACES (Consejo de Evaluación, Acreditación y Aseguramiento de la Calidad de la Educación Superior) who organised it jointly with ASCUN, CONSUAN and the Alfa Puentes coordinating team.
