The 1st EU-CELAC Summit / 7th EU-LAC Summit brought together European, Latin American and Caribbean Heads of State and Government in Santiago (Chile) on 26-27 January 2013, to address an Alliance for Sustainable Development to Promote Investments of Social and Environmental Quality. During the Summit, the Leaders adopted a political Declaration and expanded the Action Plan previously adopted in the Madrid Summit in 2010 for bi-regional cooperation.
Prior to the event, an Academic Summit was organised which enhanced the visibility of higher education on the EU-CELAC political agenda. The Alfa Puentes consortia submited a statement underlining the importance of higher education partnership in the agenda, and in particular the role of associations of universities and other networks.
