First Regional Integration Seminar - Lima, Peru
Between 6-9 November 2011, the First Regional Integration Seminar of the Alfa PUENTES Project will take place in Lima, Peru. 15 EU and 40 LA representatives will gather in order to discuss:
- Quality Assurance.
- Qualifications frameworks in Europe and Latin America.
The main goal of this trans-national activity under the Alfa PUENTES is to inform all three sub-regions, involved in the present project such as Mesoamerica, Andean Community and Mercosur of the existing initiatives related to the processes the quality assurance and qualifications frameworks in the respective regions. The event aims at gathering key actors in the development of higher education systems to debate priorities, exchange practices, define quality standards and set qualifications frameworks for the modernization, reform and harmonization of the higher education area in Latin America.
The second seminar, to be held in March 2012, will address issues of academic mobility and recognition of qualifications and course credits.
Both events will inform the three sub-regions on the advancement of the processes, thus contributing to a better understanding and common dialogue on the way to integrate the higher education systems at regional, sub-regional and trans-regional levels between Latin America and Europe.
The general objective of the Alfa PUENTES Project, co-funded by the ALFA program of the European Commission is to improve and strengthen collaboration in higher education between Europe and Latin American through building capacities of university associations and to search for synergies and mutual learning between the regions.
